EGCR’s Fun Legal Fact of the Week is here to help you get through the work week by sharing a random fact about a state law, regulation, and more!
The Copyright Act of 1976 was defined that copyrights of published works would last for the life of the author plus 50 years afterwards their death and whereas corporate authorship would last for 75 years.
However, these perimeters would expand under the Copyright Term Extension Act of 1998. Under this act, the copyright of a publication would last the life of the author plus an additional 70 years. For Corporate authorship, copyrights would be extended to 120 years after its creation or 95 years after the publication, whichever timeline came first.
